Office Culture: Golf vs Dota

Usually i used a drawing pad.. but because of restrictions and afraid that my drawing pad might get stolen (I leave it at my home). I draw and scanned instead…

This is mostly about youngsters this days who always play computer games like DOTA or counterstrike.. In the office, sometimes we always see these old timers always spend their time talking about activities such as golf, soccer or what not. If todays youngster took over the office culture the near future.. What do you think it would be like.. LOL

BTW… Happy Ramadhan to all!

The battle in the bus 2: Crap the racism!

Sunday, May 16, 2010

DSC_0092

Another true story about my bus travelling experiences. Last time, I have posted about the experiences that I had with the smoking driver. Unfortunately this time, I got into another bad experience by meeting with a bothersome of unfriendly people.

The story goes like this, It was March, late night, I was taking a bus ride from KL to go back home to Lumut. As the bus were about to reach the Teluk Intan bus station. The passengers of the bus including me were distracted by a commotion that happened in the back seats of the bus. First, I was about just to ignore the situation and thought about getting some sleep. I was very tired and sleepy and the last thing i want is to get into trouble. I couldn’t get what I want as the situation turned from bad to worse.

“Lepaskan tangan aku *****!!!”

“Let go of my hand!! you ****!!!”

A person was shouting. There were a lot of swearing going on…. That woke me up because I thought there was a hot R rated action going on.. ahaha… but it wasn’t what i thought to be…

I turned around trying to see what happened. It wasn’t really clear but I saw a foreigner was holding a guy’s arm tightly. I assumed that the foreigner was a Bangladesh, emigrated to Malaysia to work in the ‘Caelygirls’ factory that I soon found out after the bus driver drop him off in the front gate of the factory later. After a few struggle, the foreigner then let go of his hand and let the guy free. Backed by his friends (about twenty people), the guy than yelled at him shouting “why you did that!!??”.. Well something like that. The shouting and swearing goes on, the situation were getting tense. The foreigner then make his way to the driver seat and complained about the situation. He told the driver that the man was playing with his knife and did what the thought was right. The driver then slashed at what he was saying and shouted at him.

“Kenapa ngko kacau die orang! Ngko dah kacau sekarang ngkau terima padahnya! ****** ********************************** *&%#*&*#%”

“Why did you disturbed them! You have disturbed them and now you pay the price (there were a lot lot of swearing going on then)”

There was actually a lot of racial comments there… This is what happened when people are racist. They put aside everything and put racism as their way of putting things.. I was really angry with the driver’s comments. I can’t believe he actually ignored the foreigner’s complains and more than that, he mock him and disgraced of his race he were and also his job. The driver continued on saying….

“Ngko kacau M*L*Y*!! habislah kamu kena BUNUH nanti!!”

“You disturbed the *****!! You’ll be dead!!”

Of course the foreigner was upset. The driver judged him too fast without proper insight to what really happened. Drove by racism, the driver made harsh action to what I think he should not do. I don’t really know what is going on with the foreigner’s mind, but i know how is mine, I was really… really… angered with what he (the driver) just said. I thought i was going to do something. However, I don’t want to get myself and also the other passengers in trouble as we were in a moving bus. So I just shut up and tried to let it go.

As the bus reaches the Teluk Intan bus station, the bus makes it way to stop by the road to drop off some of the passengers. Eventually, the the people who are going to be dropped here were actually the twenty enraged kids. Quietly, with a sad.. scared face, the foreigner tried to make his way back to his seat. I looked at him and notice that the people were pushing him trying to pull him out of the bus.  I was afraid that those guys are going to get nasty with the foreigner. He was lucky that he managed to struggle through it. However, the drama was not over!

“Thump!, thump! thump!”

The foreigner was knocked down by the man who accused of playing with his knife. He punched and kicked that fellow mercilessly. I then did what i think was right for me to do. I stood up and yelled at him… trying to calm the assailant. The atmosphere was chaotic at this time. After a little while, the assailant make his way out of the bus. I really thought it was over as the driver could just drove off from that place. Foolishly, the driver just waits there and eventually got out from the bus trying to do something with the kids that are mad waiting to beat the crap out of the foreigner. I don’t know what he was doing outside (he said he was throwing away the knife from the guy possesion). They yell horrible things like wanting to kill that guy. They are not in their right mind. As if they were possessed by syaitan. At this time, some of those guys walk into the bus again and run towards the foreigner that was in a very weak condition.

BLAM!!! He’s down!

I then did more than just yelling this time, without any help what so ever, i got into the scene and did what i have to do. I was grateful that I learned a little martial arts and I've been into fight like this before a couple of times (I rather no tell the details). Plus, i didn’t see that they uses any weapon including the knife that the foreigner was talking about. I managed to break off the fight without any scrape and bruises. Pushed those guys back out of the bus and settle this mess once and for all. Feeling pissed off with the driver’s attitude and methods of handling the situation. I suggest to him that he should leave the place as soon as possible in a very polite manner even with what just happened. The driver then gave me the stupidest reply i have ever heard in my entire life. Here is what he said..

“Apasal kamu menyibuk!?”

“Why the hell did you interfere!?”

Ahahahahaha… i laughed in my heart. What is so good about killing people?

Moral

When I wanted to elaborate on this racism issue, I found out that my writings touched a lot about politics. Mostly about the Ketuanan Melayu issue that influences the mind and way of thinking's of some people. In my opinion, such racist concept is irrelevant. If anyone really wanted something then they have to  earn it. Oh dear, i could go on discussing this issue but I am a lazy to hit the keyboard and staring at the monitor for too long…

anyway.. my opinion is just an opinion. i am still a human… Lets see what Allah SWT says about this;

surah 49 Al hujurat, ayat 13

“O mankind! We created you from a single (pair) of a male and a female and made you into nations and tribes that ye may know each other (not that ye may despise each other). Verily the most honored of you in the sight of Allah is (he who is) the most righteous of you. And Allah has full knowledge and is well acquainted (with all things).”

Please consult your ustaz on the tafsir of the ayat..

Who are we to criticize people of their races.

Salam everyone especially to my dear bloggers.. Though, its been about months before the last post. I always thought about blogging almost everyday. How unfortunate it is that I have become ignorant of such thing that i have almost totally lost it. This is not the first time regrettably… guess maybe because I had a ‘writer’s block’… I don’t know if bloggers like me can be entitled for such condition.. blogging is still an activity that involves writing isn’t it?

Anyway, there is nothing really interesting for today’s post. In fact, today (2nd May) is the day that this blog.. Naqiubex sides of life.. will enters its 2nd year..  Ehem… ( Is it already starting to get boring?)

I also wanted to say thanks for the people that have followed this blogs while I was away. Recent bloggers that have followed this blog also in some way just inspired me. When I opened the blog just now, your compliments and comments to this humble blog just surprises me. I didn’t do a thing and yet some of you guys just kept on coming and followed this blog.

Visiting my brother: Kedah and Taiping

Kedah..

DSC_9809

Negeri Jelapang Padi…

No doubt about it.

Me and my Dad actually wanted to visit my younger but very tall brother. ‘Hafiz’. As you can see in this picture. look how tall is he compared to me. He is studying in UITM Kedah at Semeling. Just a couple of miles away from Sungai Petani.

raya

He is the first from the right.. I am the photographer here.. so don’t bother finding me in this picture.

We went there by using the scooter that my father just bought. A very big, bulky and black but really smooth to ride on. Well, at least you get a comfortable ride for hundreds of kilometres compared with riding a Kapcai. It was surprisingly fast too… I wondered at that time if it can endure a long trip up to Kedah from Lumut. Scooters have small tires. We will later know of that on the trip back.

We ride through the Kampung, across the bridge and through small towns.. The great things about riding a bike for a long trip is that you can really see and feel the atmosphere of every places that we passed through. The scenery is much more clearer than through a closed window of a car. It was also clear that we are going to be soaking wet if the rain comes which is going to happen later...

DSC_9771 The bridge view just near Lumut port..

DSC_9789 Trees are magnific..

As we rode on, then a subtle but unfamiliar sweet scent we smell. It was the paddy fields.. So vast… though.. we just arrived in Penang.. The paddy fields is getting more vast and broader as we continued on the journey to Kedah. it was so refreshing. It made me wanted to sleep which I can not do while on a bike.. hahaha

DSC_9790 open paddy field

It took about two hours for us to reach the destination. We arrived at UITM and greeted by my brother. I really hope he is going to do well in his studies. I am a little worried. He is always clumsy and always depended on us. May Allah give him the best.

DSC_9734 My brother

After a couple of hours chatting with my brother. We left and started our journey back to Lumut. This is the time which I like and dislike. If we are going anywhere with my dad. He always does it unplanned. We might found ourselves staying in Penang the next day. Luckily it was not the deal as i don’t bring any extra clothes with me. Always be prepared for extra stuff because we might ended up staying the night somewhere. I should always remember this. Which i forgotten on the next time we visit kedah. I will not tell that story here.

We continued and ramp it (REMPIT) up to the highway. I know… highway is boring.. It will be really dangerous to fall to sleep especially here. It was later that I knew that my Dad was heading to Taiping. Luckily it was not far off from the route. There is a lot of Taiping that we can see, they have the zoo, the safari, beautiful scenery and a lot more. This is the place where my family once lived. It was hard living that time. Kind of sad to hear it. if i were a novelist I could make a sad story out of it. The picture here is the house which my family once lived when my father was stationed here. They said that there is a lot of Jin living here. And yes that is true.. my mother always told me stories about them when they lived in this house. but my mother didn’t care. She’s not scared of anything even snake. Well there is one though.. she hates RAT…

DSC_9720

My family once lived here

We made out way to Changkat Jering and settle down a bit. There was a weekly market at that time. Like a common ‘Pasar Minggu’, there is a lot of stuffs to see. From herbs, parangs, kuih and a lot of stuff that i did not dare to buy. It was dark and crowded. They should put more lights in here. I wonder why people came to such places. Well, that was until I tasted the satay there. The chunk of meat is hinted with unhealthy fat which makes it very DELICIOUS!! i bet the fat makes the whole thing sweet. Don’t underestimate such places just because it looks old. It is in such places where we can find a heap of gold. For me, I just found myself a nice satay..

DSC_9738 Changkat Jering

DSC_9742 Satay…

We continued on entering the highway again. As my father speeds away. Comes a convoy of choppers and superbikes overtaking us. Harley Davidson's, Honda Ninja, Virago… you name it. At that time, the rain pours down onto us. Quickly we find a shelter at the nearby Petrol Station. The convoy of big motors were there also. I really don’t mind about the convoy. however I found it really funny that me and my father geared just like them. You know, the black leather jacket, the head scarf and all. We can be mistaken to be with one of them but without a a chopper that is.

bikr

After the rain was gone, we continued our journey. As we were nearer to home. Just about three miles away that is. An unfortunate event occurs. The scooter is getting wobbly. The small back tire was PANCIT… Alhamdulillah it was not serious. The motor can still move but slowly.. We got home with laugh and cheers even with an almost disastrous ending.

Random Babbles: Hijrah..

Monday, December 28, 2009

So… How long since the last post I've made…

It’s been about 2 months I think… the last post I did was in October…

and believe me… I have a lot of stories to tell….There’s been a lot of stuff happened in these past two months. From my final year project, finishing my HND in LEGENDA, The Qurban celebration, planning my way after college, searching for the best place to continue my degree, visiting some of the best places in Malaysia and a lot.. lot.. more………

I have so many to tell but I don’t know where to start from….

I gotta say it.. oh, how I missed blogging… even sometimes I thought it was ridiculous at some point.. It was never in my mind to stop blogging.. Every day, it was always a dilemma… but tonight it will be a new start for me… not just for my blog… but for my life as well…

After I’ve finished my study… 2 weeks later… I have been too laid out…  LAZY… ate a lot… never exercise like i used to be.. too much video games….

Maybe it was because of the waiting… or maybe it was because I did not felt the same stress like I did before… Of course, there is no assignment to do… No actual bills to be paid.. No one to disturb me… I’ve wasted a lot of time where I should suppose to build on something… I've lied too much saying that I am OK… I am going to do a self study… but I don’t… All I did was just waiting…

Luckily, thank to god.. i lived in an environment that is filled with diamonds. It was Maal hijrah, the day when we are reminded about the hijrah that the prophet Muhammad SAW made. It was these days of celebration that I hear words of wisdom from a lot of people.. comes to my ears.. and pierces to my heart.. at that time i realized i have done something really stupid…

Tomorrow I will have my first job interview… Can’t wait!

now is crucial.. i always move the chess piece.. but it always goes round in endless circle.. Stop for a moment my friend.. be at ease... It is impossible to see the whole picture... Lets put the dream to a better frame.. So I can see the best picture.. This is the change... For a better future..

It is as if I was just babbling… Sorry…Untitled-1 copy

Just a couple weeks… days.. : john Schmidt

Thursday, October 15, 2009

Today is the 15th October 2009..

Now I am just a few weeks away from finishing my HND here in Legenda. Almost every night, me and my friends tiring their butt to finish the final project. Sometimes, we even missed the morning class due to lack of sleep. Actually, I missed a lot of morning class this days.. hehe

There is still many things that we still have to do though… Certain enough, we have to finish it this week… No holds barred…

The reason I suddenly wanted to do a post today is because of something that I just stumbled on Facebook.. Thanks to Shirley, I am in awe to see the  fantastic performances by a brilliant Pianista.. John Schmidt..

To Taylor Swift and Cold play fans.. I think you might just like it.. Here is John Schmidt – Love Story meets Viva La Vida

Lately there isn’t any cartoons or artwork that I am doing… I have a lot more important things that i have to attend to… Plus, the things that I am scared of the most is…. If I started drawing now.. I might can’t stop drawing for a long period of time… Finish this semester first then I’ll see about other things that I love to do..

Not a common Piano Play by Ye Eun

Wednesday, September 9, 2009
I stumbled upon this fascinating video in Facebook..
A piano play by a 5 years old Ye Eun...
What makes it more interesting is that she was blind...

Let's look at her beautiful performance that somehow has touched my heart..

To be honest with you guys, Ye Eun singing has left something for me to reflect about.

Her situation also made me remembered of a blind man that i knew, in spite of his condition, he was able to recite the Quran and be the Imam for prayer. I don't know if he is a Hafiz or not, but what i know is his memorization is way better than me ~ A guy who can see and read..

Ambigrams: I like it and The Prize..

Ambigram...
I am presented with this artform when my dear friend introduced it to me in the class last year..
Because of him, when i got a pen or a pencil... plus a free time..
I would try to make words so it can be read from upside down..
from the reflection of a mirror...
or simply said.. the words will be readable from other viewpoint, direction or orientation...

What is ambigram?
Just click here...

Ambigram-BelieveImage by Duncan Creamer via Flickr

What is so interesting about ambigram?

I'll show you guys some of the works that I have found via through Zemanta. The picture here shows the word 'BELIEVE'... Now, If you take the picture and rotate it upside down... The words 'BELIEVE' can still be readable

A mirror-image ambigram for the word "Wik...Image via Wikipedia

Here is another picture of the word 'WIKI'. If you take the picture and reflect it to the mirror.. It will still be readable..

If you guys read some of Dan Brown works like Angels and Demon or the D

avinci Code. You guys must know of the main character Robert Langdon. From what I know, this character was named Langdon as a tribute to the most famous ambigram artist.... John Langdon. His website shows a lot more example of ambigram in a more detailed way. There is also some hints and tips on how to do your own ambigram.. Visit his website http://johnlangdon.net/

What I have done
I am actually not very good in turning words of letters to a beautiful art. So sometimes I envy people who can writes beautifully. For me, to trying to do such beautiful handwriting would means cooking maggee in 1 hour. I need the time, concentration and patience to do that...

Anyway, it is fun to make words so it can be able to read from different point of views. Here, I did an ambigram of my own signature name 'NAQIUBEX'. It can be read even if you rotate it upside down.

Here is the word 'Budak Surau', i am actually thinking in making a t shirt for the Jemaah Surau in Legenda. it would be cool to make words that can readable even when reflected in the mirror.. It works but I still think a lot more things need to be done to make it more cooler.
This is some rough works that I have done in a piece of paper I found...
Some people may can do it without even doing any rough sketches...
Anyway, I think everyone can do this thing as it is very fun.. Oh yeah, not to forget... The prize that i have promised for Miss Alis. Sorry about the long delay, I have almost forgotten about the Musang things.. Sorry sorry sorry
Anyway, i hope you will accept this not so much reward... The words in the ambigram is 'ALIS'. Try rotate it...

So what are you guys waiting for... Take a piece a paper and a pen.. Try make some ambigrams!

The Musang: The answer, winner and the Dung Coffee

Saturday, August 15, 2009
Yes.. we have already got the winner.. Congratulations Miss Alis...
Alright... just like the title says... the answer is...

THE MUSANG......

This Musang is the one of the suspected animal to have terrorizes the Venice of Perak neighbourhood and the most probably one affected is my home. As the musang lives in our very own comfy attics. Just as I mentioned before, the Musang have done many inappropriate things. The most unbelivable things that the Musang have done is throwing crap (poop) to people.

Yukk!!

What a bad fella we got here..

Now what you think should we do to this fella
~Keep it
~Give it to the zoo
~Relocate the musang to a faraway place!
~Kill and sell it is not an option..

Musang... Is it a fox or more to a civet?

Yeah... this is one thing that have bothers my mind a little bit... When I was kindergarten, they always says that Fox when translated to Malay language is Musang...
Is Musang a fox when translated in English?..
Or is it a civet?...
To me, Musang is a very special species in the peninsula and should not be translated to fox as what i have found in the English~Malay dictionary. It doesn't looked like a fox at all and it is more similar to a Civet.

Let we have some pictures from Mr google to prove that I am right!

My Nine tails (kyubi) offspring

and the fox..

ooppss... thats a different kinda fox [megan fox]..... wrong picture.. here is the correct one

And finally the so called civet ...

Masked Palm Civet = Himalayan Palm Civet (Pagu...Image via Wikipedia

In Indonesia, the Musang is also called 'Luwak'.

'Luwak'... I've stumbled upon this name when I was watching a documentary about the best and expensive coffee in the world...

And did you know.. (most of you guys would already know....)

~One of the most expensive coffee comes from the Musang or Luwak dung!!!
As the Luwak eats the berries while also swallow the seeds (coffee beans), the people will take the dung/crap/shit/feces and take out the beans. This is where the coffee beans will be processed and transformed to be the most expensive coffee beans in the world... hahaha
people calls it the 'Luwak coffee' or some calls it 'the exotic dung coffee'. In wiki, I found it was called tagalog or kafelaku and a lot more...

BONDOWOSO, EAST JAVA, INDONESIA - AUGUST 11: C...Image by Getty Images via Daylife

~The interesting thing is coffee Luwak is sold between '$300-$700' in most of the country around the world. I heard a story that in the old days, the people will try to search for these Luwak feces because they found it that it would be expensive if they buy a normal coffee. So instead they will just made one from the Luwak dung.. Its funny how such cheap delicacies to some people can turn out to be a whole different thing in other places...

~Hey wait a minute... We've got ourselves a Musang and with the whole lot of money that can be made... hehehe
Nope.... I just kidding... i guess nobody gonna buy a coffee from a shit here..

~Anyway thanx to my sis, she managed to capture this naughty little fella. I wonder what actually she's studies in Ukraine. Medical or Hunting?

~Oh yeah.. the prize for the answering the question first will be announced on my next post.. You just wait and see... For the other's.. i might gave you guys somethin also.. it's not much.. but.... don't put so much hope for it.. hehe

The suspect have been captured!

Friday, August 14, 2009
Hey! Fellow Citizens of Venice!!!
The possible suspect that terrorrizes the Venice area have been captured.
The suspect was alleged to do the following crime..

~Ruining people's crop
~Piss on someones flower pot
~Steal fruits
~Eat the fruits without permission
~Throwing the fruit seeds to peoples
~Crap at the most inappropriate place
~Suspected to also throw crap (animal dung) to some people
~Living in the attic without permission!

Guess who?

I'll give some hints:

~Its an animal and its cute..
~Contributes a lot to the coffee world...

The first one to answer correctly will get a mysterious prize!! The answer/champion will be out by Sunday..

Robomatics: Love of Knowledge

Wednesday, August 12, 2009
Robomatics...
No... It's not a title of a robot movie. Its a name of a company that specializes in factory automation industry. A place where my team think can supply us with pneumatic components, valves, etc that we need in our project. thanks to my friends effort in completing the project, he have found a couple of interesting distributors and finally we chose this company because it is near to my friend's house afterall.

What is my project?

Well, every Mechanical Engineering students have to come out with a machine before they are able to finish their studies. I rather keep it a secret first before i tell the whole world what is my machine is. For the people who've already know.. just keep it quite!
Anyway, pneumatic system plays an important role in our machine...

Pneumatic system?

May I start my engineering class now?
Pneumatic is mainly related to air...
Pneumatic devices are various tools and instruments that generate and utilize compressed air. In the pictures above, you can see an equipment called compressor, this is where air is compressed to ake pneumatic system impossible. The compressor feeds air into a main tank, the main tank's pressure is higher than the pressure required by any single Pneumatic Animatronic. The main tank outlet should have an adjustable regulator, which reduces the tank's pressure to that required by the rest of the pneumatic system. On the regulator are two gauges used to read both tank pressure and the output pressure of the regulator.

I bet most of you guys would have stop reading by now...

i remembered one of my lecturer's said in my class..

"To learn is sometimes a painful process"

Yup! i do think he is right... To be honest.. i think LOVE is important in learning. It would help to ease the pain while gaining knowledge.
Or maybe just kills of the pain as well.

OMG.. Do I really have the LOVE of knowledge?
If I do.. then should learning be easy?
Should i still be remembering the knowledge that have been given to me?
I don't even able to wrote back the latest formula on my last class..

As most of my teacher's said it is important that after we have gain knowledge, we try to make amal (practice or exercize) of it, or better we teached others on the knowledge we've learnt... That would help our mind to remember and further understanding of the subject..
Which I failed a lot... ~sigh~

Sometimes I found students who are really unwillingful to study.
Hate to study? Do they hate knowledge?
I hope not...
Let see on what Islam says about this kinda people..

Abu Bakrah reported, I heard the Prophet (SAW) saying:

"You should be a scholars, or a student, or a listener, or a lover of 'Ilm (knowledge) and scholars, and you should not be the fifth which makes you perish. 'Ata' said, Mis'ar said to me. You added a fifth point which we do not have. The fifth point is: To hate 'Ilm(knowledge) and its people."

(At-Tabarani; Al Bazzar)

Wooaah.. To hate knowledge and it's people (teachers, ulama, etc) will make you perish! Astaghfirullah... If you need further interpretations of the hadith, better seek knowledge from your nearest Ustaz..

Check out this website for something about Pneumatic system

H1N1: H1N1 screening test in airport, the mask price and the Pig

Saturday, August 8, 2009
H1N1... Lucky it wasn't N1H1... N for naqib and H for hakim... hahaha
So, another post about H1N1, or i more like to call it Swine flu...

I never thought that it was going this bad..
today, the Swine flu have caused about 26 death as being reported in local newspaper. Right now, I do felt that the pandemic have started looking its prey in this college. I heard that there were about two people that was tested positive for H1N1. But I know there is more in this college who've got the disease. If the news got out that the students of Legenda have been affected by the virus. The college will have to get quarantined, which also means the college will have to be closed down for awhile. The thing is, my college won't take the risk of giving any holidays.......
of course, where the hell can they get the money if the college is closed for a week.
Hey, I don't mind!
Because i don't wanna get quarantined... It's too late afterall..

Screening Test at the Airport

Since the breakout, almost every airport in the world takes some measures to encounter the deadly flu. From all of the country, I think the China government is the one who we should take example from. Maybe because of the SARS experience, they have taken precaution about a step farther from us.

Well, they wear Hazmat suit and laser down people forehead. Here i got you a video from youtube for your eyeview...

But I am not impressed at all, in my college...
We get shot with the infrared beam almost everyday...
(can someone check it if its goin to cause us cancer someday later)

The price of mask flu is rising!

Yeah! This is what I heard from my friends and also from my dear blogger 'Sufy'. The cost for the disposable mask flu is about rm1 at first. Now, the price of the mask is suddenly rising. There are some people who are trying to take advantage of the situation to fill their pockets with a whole lot of MONEY. Some of them even sell one mask with a ridiculous price of rm2.50. Somebody... or the government shoud take authority in this. Rather than just tellin us to wear a piece of mask everyday... How about helping our fellow citizen to solve this problem!

"Hey mr police, what are you guys looking at?"

Pig

Some info about the cute snotty animal that I wanna share... I got it from the book 'Quran Saintifik' by Dr. Danial Zainal Abidin. I think it is a must have for everyone...
